AI Engineer – Graduate Development Program

About the role

Join ION’s three‑year Graduate Development Program as an AI Engineer. You will work on real projects from day one, gaining hands‑on experience in AI, machine learning and software engineering within a global FinTech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, train, evaluate and iterate on Machine Learning and Generative AI models.
• Work with Large Language Models, including prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation, embeddings, fine‑tuning and evaluation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to build and ship innovative, high‑impact products.
• Contribute to product development from requirements through delivery in an agile setting.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a STEM discipline obtained within the last year or currently in progress, with a strong academic record.
• Fluent in English (B2+) and strong communication skills.
• Based in Italy or willing to relocate; non‑EU candidates must hold a valid EU work permit.

Required skills

• Programming in Python, Typescript or JavaScript.
• Experience with Machine Learning, Generative AI and Large Language Models.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, fine‑tuning and model evaluation.
