DevOps Engineer – Space Applications

About the role

CGI Italy is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join its Space team in Frascati. You will support the processing of Earth Observation data and help deliver cloud‑native solutions for a range of sectors such as weather, agriculture, finance and maritime.

Key responsibilities

• Build, update and patch container images and maintain container templates.
• Automate deployment pipelines for applications and platforms using CI/CD tools.
• Monitor performance, optimise resource usage and control cloud costs.
• Provide operational support for CGI applications and document procedures, post‑mortems and run‑books.
• Collaborate with developers and scientists to ensure reliable, scalable micro‑service architectures.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in a DevOps or site‑reliability role.
• Strong knowledge of Ubuntu/Debian Linux and Bash scripting.
• Solid understanding of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing and firewalls.
• Proficiency with Git version control.
• Fluency in English.

Required skills

• Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Familiarity with Python programming.
• Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to commercial cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud).
