Freelance Flutter Mobile Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a freelance mobile engineer to work side‑by‑side with our CTO on Bestie Bite’s restaurant video‑review app. You will iterate quickly on features, ship prototypes, and directly influence user retention, engagement and conversion.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the iOS/Android app using Flutter and Dart.
• Own core features such as the vertical video feed, recommendation engine and media handling.
• Integrate AI tools to accelerate development and explore AI‑driven UX.
• Implement authentication, mapping, networking, notifications and deployment pipelines.
• Write unit, widget and integration tests and ensure code quality with linting.
• Participate in weekly releases, gather feedback and iterate rapidly.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of hands‑on Flutter experience or strong native iOS/Android background with a genuine interest in Flutter.
• Comfortable using AI tools to code faster.
• Pragmatic mindset – ship a working prototype quickly.
• UX‑focused – care about smooth animations, clear UI and delightful interactions.
• Agile‑oriented – familiar with conventional commits, PR reviews and fast feedback loops.

• Routing: go_router
• Networking: Dio, SSE, WebSocket
• Auth: Firebase Auth, Apple/Google Sign‑In, token refresh
• Maps: Apple Maps, Google Maps (clustering, geohash)
• Media: vertical video player, compression, bunny.net CDN
• Notifications: Firebase Messaging, custom popup coordinator
• Observability: Firebase Crashlytics
• Testing: unit, widget, integration tests, flutter analyze, flutter_lints
