Full Stack Software Developer Intern

About the role

ABB Process Automation is looking for a Full Stack Software Developer Intern to join its Research & Development team in Genova. The intern contributes to web-based industrial applications, designing and implementing user interfaces, cloud-connected services and AI-powered capabilities for Human-Machine Interface (HMI) platforms. The internship suits students interested in frontend development, full stack engineering and generative AI, and the work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop modern web applications for industrial automation systems.
• Create responsive, intuitive user experiences with modern frontend technologies and frameworks.
• Collaborate with software architects, UX designers and backend developers to build scalable full-stack solutions.
• Develop and integrate APIs and backend services using modern practices.
• Prototype AI-powered features using Large Language Models and Generative AI.
• Work with tools such as TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3.NET, Docker, GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitHub Copilot and CI/CD pipelines.
• Take part in the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Good spoken and written English and Italian.
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to work in an international team.

Required skills

• JavaScript and/or TypeScript, React, Angular, Vue.js, HTML5 and CSS3.
• Object-oriented programming and Git version control.
• Knowledge of C# and .NET, Docker, cloud platforms (Azure preferred), Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code is a plus.
• Experience with AI, machine learning or generative AI projects is a plus.
