Junior Embedded Software & Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role

ISE is looking for a Junior Embedded Software & Cybersecurity Engineer to help develop secure embedded systems for railway fire detection and protection. You will work side‑by‑side with a senior embedded engineer, gaining hands‑on experience in safety‑critical railway applications and cybersecurity.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of cybersecurity functions in RTOS‑based embedded systems.
• Assist with secure communication, authentication, and system‑integrity mechanisms.
• Contribute to software testing, debugging, and verification activities.
• Help implement cybersecurity requirements aligned with IEC/EN 62443‑4‑2.
• Support documentation, configuration management, and technical reporting.
• Participate in system integration, troubleshooting, and lab testing.
• Analyze communication protocols and onboard network architectures.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Analytical and structured problem‑solving mindset.
• Clear communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong motivation to learn and develop technical expertise.

Required skills

• Basic C programming for embedded systems.
• Understanding of microcontrollers and embedded architectures.
• Fundamentals of RTOS, TCP/IP and embedded communication protocols.
• Interest in cybersecurity principles such as authentication, secure communication and integrity.
