Lab Technician

About the role

The school is seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to support science teachers and students in delivering safe, effective practical lessons. You will ensure that laboratory resources are prepared, maintained, and compliant with safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with science teachers to plan and support practical activities.
• Prepare, update, and improve worksheets, safety guidelines, and experiment instructions.
• Set up experiments, test them in advance, and assist students during lessons.
• Maintain accurate documentation, inventory, and safety data sheets (MSDS).
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and biological waste.
• Clean, maintain, and repair laboratory equipment as needed.
• Monitor stock levels, place orders, and contribute to the science department budget.
• Support wider school life, extracurricular activities, and professional development.

Required profile

• Experience working in a school or educational laboratory environment.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures for chemicals and biological materials.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
• Organised, detail‑oriented and capable of maintaining accurate records.
