Middle School Art Teacher

About the role

St. Louis School, an international school in Milan and part of the Inspired Education Group, is looking for an Art Teacher to join its Colonna Campus from August 2026. The teacher will cover Art across the Middle School years (Years 7-9, Key Stage 3 equivalent) in an English-speaking environment where students prepare for IGCSE and IBDP pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Art lessons aligned with the school's curriculum and the British educational framework
• Develop students' skills across artistic techniques, media and processes through structured, differentiated teaching
• Foster creativity, critical thinking and individual artistic expression
• Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating studio/classroom environment
• Assess, monitor and report on student progress and prepare them for IGCSE Art pathways
• Organise exhibitions, displays and events celebrating student work
• Collaborate on cross-curricular projects, curriculum development and best practice
• Contribute to pastoral care, safeguarding and engagement with parents and the wider community

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education or a closely related field
• PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification; QTS or equivalent preferred
• Experience teaching Art at secondary or upper primary level (ages 11-14)
• Native-level or near-native English, with excellent written and spoken communication
• Strong classroom management and organisational skills
• EU passport or valid visa to work in Italy would be advantageous

Required skills

• Confidence in a wide range of artistic media, including traditional and digital practices
• Desirable: experience in the British curriculum, an international or multilingual setting, and familiarity with IGCSE Art & Design
