Principal Analog IC Layout Engineer

About the role

NXP Semiconductors is looking for a Principal Analog IC Layout Engineer to join its Central Layout Group supporting the Power & Energy Business Line, with a focus on Automotive Power Solutions. The role involves leading the physical implementation of complex mixed‑signal and power management ICs while driving methodology improvements across global development programs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead layout execution for complex mixed‑signal and power management products and define floor‑planning strategies from concept through tape‑out.
• Act as a technical reference for layout methodologies, flows and best practices, supporting critical decisions that impact project execution and product quality.
• Drive challenging top‑level layout developments, anticipate technical risks, propose mitigation plans and ensure compliance with design methodologies and tape‑out requirements.
• Contribute to productivity improvements, drive automation and tool enhancements, and promote reuse and standardisation across projects.
• Collaborate with design, verification, package, test, product engineering, reliability and technology teams, and mentor layout engineers worldwide.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics or Microelectronics.
• Extensive experience in analog IC layout development, including mixed‑signal, BCD and high‑voltage technologies.
• Proven experience leading complex top‑level layout activities and strong understanding of layout quality, reliability and manufacturability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with fluent English.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of Cadence Virtuoso, Calibre and physical verification flows.
• Strong expertise in mixed‑signal, BCD and high‑voltage technologies.
• Layout automation and scripting skills (SKILL, Python, TCL).
