Public Information Officer – Communications & External Relations

About the role
The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) is seeking a Public Information Officer to lead its communications and external relations agenda. Based in Turin, the incumbent will report directly to the Director and support the Institute’s strategic visibility worldwide.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate research, writing and editing of press releases and strategic communications in English and Italian.
- Plan, oversee and ensure quality of conferences, meetings, publications, media relations, web and social‑media content, and fundraising materials.
- Manage editorial direction of the UNICRI website, set messaging priorities and supervise updates.
- Review and approve publications, advise on content issues and supervise graphic design for brand consistency.
- Expand and curate UNICRI’s presence on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Flickr, Issuu and YouTube.
- Monitor reputational and policy issues, providing strategic advice to senior management.
- Collect, analyse and visualise data to support decision‑making and reporting.
- Act as focal point for media relations, organise press events and guide institutional messaging.
- Prepare and deliver high‑level briefings for diverse audiences including media, academia, diplomats and NGOs.
Required profile
- Proven experience in public information, external relations or strategic communications.
- Strong ability to produce and edit content in English and Italian.
- Demonstrated skill in coordinating multi‑stakeholder communication projects.
- Experience advising senior management on reputational and policy matters.
- Capability to analyse data and present insights through visual formats.

- Data visualization and reporting.
