Senior/Staff Backend Engineer (Remote Friendly)

About the role

Qonto is looking for a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer to help build highly scalable APIs and robust banking services for its growing European SME customer base. You will join a global team of 180 backend engineers, working remotely from any of the eligible European locations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy and maintain new and existing backend applications.
• Produce and ship high‑quality, well‑documented code.
• Co‑own service architecture, ensuring resilience, scalability and robustness following Domain‑Driven Design principles.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional product and design teams to shape finance solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a backend engineer building large‑scale, high‑throughput services.
• Strong focus on code quality, testing and upfront technical design.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced, remote‑first environment.
• Experience contributing to architecture decisions and mentoring peers.
