Sensory Science Associate Scientist

About the role

Barilla is seeking a Sensory Science Associate Scientist to join the Sensory & Analytical Food Science unit in Parma. The role will manage sensory studies, expert panel sessions and data analysis to support the development of new and existing Barilla products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and execute sensory research studies for Barilla brands and competitors across pasta, condiments and bakery categories.
• Organise and supervise tasting sessions with three expert panels (10 participants each), ensuring consistent and reliable datasets.
• Integrate sensory panel results with analytical measurements and statistical analysis to inform product and packaging decisions.
• Develop and implement global sensory tools, methodologies and panel training programs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in Sensory or Consumer Science, including management of sensory studies and statistical analysis.
• Fluency in Italian and English; French is a plus.
• Strong teamwork, collaboration and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with EyeQuestion or equivalent sensory analysis software.
• Knowledge of Power BI and LIMS (considered a plus).
