Solution Architect

About the role

Mastercard’s Deploy team within Advisory & Consulting Services is seeking a senior Solution Architect to join its Milan office. In this client‑facing position you will partner with Mastercard customers, delivery teams and product stakeholders to design, document and communicate robust, scalable solution architectures for complex payments and financial‑services implementations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural engagements with clients, driving discovery, requirements definition and solution design.
• Define end‑to‑end solution architectures for projects involving Mastercard products such as Ethoca Clarity, Click to Pay and Mastercard Engage partner solutions.
• Act as the primary architectural authority for Deploy‑led engagements, guiding engineering teams through implementation and ensuring adherence to design standards.
• Balance client requirements with Mastercard security controls, scalability and long‑term maintainability.
• Produce high‑quality artefacts including solution diagrams, architecture decision records, integration designs and technical documentation.
• Communicate architecture clearly to diverse audiences and identify technical risks early to ensure successful outcomes.

Required profile

• Fluency in both Italian and English.
• Proven advanced experience designing and delivering solution architectures within banking, payments or broader financial‑services industries.
• Strong experience working directly with clients to elicit requirements, manage ambiguity and drive alignment on architectural decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to convey complex, distributed system architectures to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
