Supplier Development Engineer – CNC Machining

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to expand and qualify its European supply base for Build‑to‑Print components and mechanical assemblies. You will leverage strong CNC machining expertise to ensure suppliers meet quality, cost, delivery and technology requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering, Sourcing, NPI and Supplier Quality to define and communicate manufacturing requirements.
• Support manufacturability reviews, optimise cost, quality and lead time, and assess supplier CNC capabilities.
• Identify, evaluate, qualify and develop new European suppliers for strategic sourcing.
• Conduct on‑site audits, capability assessments and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead technical discussions on machining methods, GD&T interpretation and special process requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering (or related).
• 5–10 years of experience in CNC machining environments.
• Strong understanding of Build‑to‑Print manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and project management skills.

Required skills

• CNC milling, turning and multi‑axis machining.
• CNC programming, tooling and fixturing.
• Machining process capability, surface treatments and coating.
• Supplier qualification, root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement.
