System Administrator – Workplace IT

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator / Workplace IT Specialist to join the Italian branch of a leading international financial services organization. The role offers autonomy in managing end‑to‑end IT operations within a regulated environment, collaborating with local, regional, and global technology teams.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server and Windows 11 client environments, including Group Policies, security hardening, patch management, OS image deployment and system upgrades.
• Manage VMware ESXi/vCenter virtualization platform to ensure high availability and optimal resource allocation.
• Maintain the Veeam backup and recovery ecosystem, covering tape, NAS, retention policies and restoration procedures.
• Oversee core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, SQL Server and domain controller operations.
• Support network infrastructure – firewalls, routers, switches – and monitor performance with tools like PRTG.
• Provide senior‑level end‑user support for Windows clients, peripherals, corporate applications, Citrix, printers, mobile devices and Cisco IP telephony.
• Perform daily operational tasks on AS400/iSeries systems, monitoring jobs and alerts.
• Contribute to projects, security enhancements, audits and act as a technical reference for junior staff.

Required profile

• 7–8 years of IT experience in structured, regulated environments, preferably banking or financial services.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate across multiple teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on business continuity.
