Litigation & Regulatory Lawyer (Trainee or Experienced)

About the role

DLA Piper is looking for a motivated Trainee Lawyer or an experienced Lawyer to join its Litigation team in Milan. The role focuses on international financial sanctions, export control, and civil/commercial dispute matters, supporting a portfolio of leading banks and private corporations.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on EU and OFAC financial sanctions and export‑control regulations.
• Support day‑to‑day compliance for banks and corporations with sanctions programmes.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on regulatory developments.
• Draft memoranda, client communications and other legal documents.
• Assist senior lawyers in commercial and civil litigation, including pre‑contentious matters.
• Collaborate on complex domestic and cross‑border cases.
• Monitor and report on relevant legal and regulatory updates.

Required profile

• Italian qualified lawyer with strong academic results.
• Preferably 1‑2 years post‑qualification experience; trainees preparing for the 2027 Bar exam are also considered.
• Demonstrated experience in international financial sanctions and export control.
• Background in commercial law or dispute resolution is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication in Italian and English.
• Service‑oriented, organized, deadline‑driven, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
