Transport Assistant – Logistics

About the role

The Transport Assistant will support the 3R Programme Team at the United Nations Global Service Centre in Brindisi, Italy. Reporting to the Logistics Officer/3R Programme Manager, the role ensures the UN vehicle fleet and related equipment are maintained, repaired, and redeployed efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor maintenance and repair of UN‑owned vehicle fleet and assets returned for refurbishment.
• Assist in administering contracts with external service providers for vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Conduct physical inspections and spot checks to verify record accuracy.
• Compile ad‑hoc and periodic reports on fleet status, maintenance activities, and redeployment.
• Supervise technical inspections of motor, heavy‑duty, and engineering equipment and prepare related tables and reports.
• Define generic technical specifications for maintenance, estimate spare‑part quantities, and requisition tools and accessories.
• Collect, analyse, and visualise data for reporting, knowledge management, and decision‑making.
• Update informational material such as web pages or brochures.
• Perform additional tasks as required by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance processes.
• Experience with contract administration and physical inspections.
• Ability to analyse data, create visualisations, and prepare reports.
