Backend Developer – Scalable Systems for Sports & iGaming

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Backend Developer to build and maintain high‑performance services that power our sports and iGaming digital products. You will work with a global team to create reliable, secure, and scalable backend solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services, APIs and applications.
• Build scalable, secure and high‑performance systems for web and internal platforms.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs used by frontend applications and external partners.
• Work with databases (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL or other NoSQL solutions) to store, query and optimise data.
• Integrate third‑party APIs and external services as required.
• Collaborate with frontend developers and other team members to deliver reliable digital products.
• Debug, troubleshoot and resolve issues related to backend, databases, APIs and infrastructure.
• Suggest technical improvements for reliability, scalability, security and maintainability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Backend Developer or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Node.js, Next.js, Golang or comparable technologies.
• Hands‑on experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with cloud or server infrastructure (AWS, Hetzner).
• Understanding of real‑time data processing, caching strategies and background job/queue systems.
• Good grasp of security, performance optimisation and reliable data handling.
• Excellent English communication skills; additional languages are a plus.
• Ideally based in Naples.
