Compliance Officer Italy (100%) - Wealth Management

About the role

Julius Baer is looking for a Compliance Officer Italy (COI) to act as a compliance advisor for the Italian entity, covering Italian and European financial regulations, especially those relating to insurance brokerage activities. The role performs thematic regulatory reviews, supports the Consolidated Supervision Team in monitoring the business and contributes to second-line-of-defense controls. It reports directly to the Head of Products & Services Compliance of Bank Julius Baer Europe S.A. and to the CMLRO on compliance/AML topics for the Italian branch.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with banking and securities laws, regulations and internal guidelines, including insurance rules such as IDD
• Support the CMLRO and Head of Products & Services Compliance in relations with Italian authorities and regulators, and ensure proper reporting to them
• Advise management and the business on compliance matters, draft and review compliance guidance and internal policies
• Take part in projects on new regulatory initiatives, update management on regulatory changes and advise on new business activities
• Implement and maintain the Global Compliance Program standards locally, analyse business activities for compliance risks and run risk-based controls under the Three-Lines-of-Defence model
• Test adherence to compliance rules, provide management assurance and produce regular and ad-hoc reports

Required profile

• Master's degree in Economics, Finance or Law
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in the European financial industry (audit, banking)
• Good understanding of European financial laws and insurance rules (IDD)
• English and Italian, with additional languages as an asset
• Experience as an experienced compliance officer with EU and Italian regulations, and in international wealth management (HNWI, UHNWI)
• Knowledge of investment services regulations, regulator interaction and project management experience
