Director Project Management - Rare Disease & Pediatrics - Europe

About the role

The Director of Project Management will act as the primary client lead for complex clinical studies focused on rare diseases and pediatrics across Europe. This senior position drives operational delivery, risk‑management, and talent development while ensuring high‑quality outcomes for multiple vendors and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main client contact for assigned studies, overseeing complex strategies, multiple vendors, and sub‑CROs without planned oversight.
• Develop and execute risk‑management strategies, resolve escalated project issues, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
• Lead project teams to design, implement, track, and maintain project plans within contracted timelines and budgets.
• Manage TMF (Trial Master File) responsibilities, including index, audit readiness, and delivery.
• Provide line management, talent development, and mentorship for project management staff.
• Drive business development activities such as bid defense design, strategic relationship management, and process improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree in life sciences (Master’s preferred) with at least nine years of clinical research experience, including six years of full project management responsibility.
• Minimum four years of direct or indirect supervisory experience.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Strong judgment in high‑stakes or ambiguous situations and exceptional presentation skills.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of the clinical development spectrum and ICH GCP.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent clinical research certification.
