Site Quality Engineer (HVDC Converter Stations)

About the role

Hitachi Energy Italy is looking for a Site Quality Engineer (m/f/d) for its HVDC converter station projects in Italy and abroad. The role covers planning, organising, leading and monitoring all quality work during site execution, including work done internally and that carried out by subcontractors and partners. It is a site-based position requiring presence at the construction site in Italy.

Key responsibilities

• Review contractual and local requirements and contractor quality plans so they align with project quality plans and customer requirements.
• Deliver quality induction training to site personnel.
• Ensure quality control processes are implemented and monitored, with inspection and testing during civil, mechanical and electrical erection and commissioning properly conducted, documented, checked and validated.
• Make sure the completion system, deviation, NCR, CCRP systems and other quality tools are deployed and that users are trained, with support from the completion manager.
• Follow up the completion system, covering inspections, certifications and outstanding works including the punch list.
• Report quality-related site KPIs to stakeholders when needed and take part in internal and contractor quality audits.
• Monitor contractor compliance with quality requirements and follow up corrective actions.
• Support CoQP reporting processes at site according to HVDC processes.

Required profile

• Technical, engineering or quality management education.
• 5+ years of construction quality site experience or in operations.
• Proven track record in change management and managing internal projects in large, complex organisations.
• Fluent English and Italian, written and spoken.
• Willingness to relocate to the project site.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO 9001.
• Construction quality management.
