Accounting Specialist – Accounts Payable & VAT

About the role

Join DFDS in Trieste as an Accounting Specialist focused on accounts payable and VAT compliance. You will work within a dynamic finance team, taking full ownership of the payable cycle while ensuring strict adherence to Italian and EU tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, register and verify supplier invoices (domestic, EU and non‑EU).
• Apply correct VAT rates, reverse charge and split‑payment mechanisms.
• Maintain VAT registers and prepare monthly/quarterly VAT returns (LIPE).
• Assist with corporate tax returns and yearly VAT declaration.
• Reconcile supplier accounts and support external consultants.
• Prepare INTRASTAT and Esterometro reports on cross‑border transactions.
• Manage intent letters and related documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in accounts payable within an international environment.
• Strong knowledge of Italian accounting and VAT regulations.
• Excellent negotiation and mediation abilities.
• Fluent English; Italian preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office tools.
• Experience using Accounting Information Systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (strong advantage).
