Business Development Manager - Grocery & Retail

About the role

Deliveroo is looking for a Business Development Manager for its New Vertical business, based in Rome. You will identify, acquire and launch new retail partners across your territory, owning the full sales cycle from prospecting and relationship building to negotiation and contract signing. The role works closely with Sales, Account Management, Operations, Marketing and the Onboarding team, and is measured by partner selection growth and market coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prospect and acquire new Grocery partners in your territory, focusing on independent retailers and local chains
• Own the full sales cycle, from lead generation and outreach to negotiation, contract signing and launch
• Build strong relationships with business owners and key decision-makers
• Work with Onboarding, Operations, Marketing and Account Management to activate partners and ensure successful launches
• Track and manage your sales pipeline against acquisition and growth targets
• Act as a local ambassador for Deliveroo, strengthening its brand presence in the retail community

Required profile

• Strong drive and enthusiasm for sales and business development, comfortable reaching out to new contacts
• Confident dealing with partners and customers mainly in person and by phone
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Genuine curiosity about the Italian food and grocery market; knowledge of the local independent retail landscape is a plus
• Organised and self-directed, able to manage your own pipeline in a fast-moving environment
• Fluency in Italian and a good command of English

• Familiarity with Salesforce
• Experience in the food industry

What we offer

• Total target compensation of EUR 35,200 - 44,000 per year, with a base salary of EUR 17,200 - 26,000
