Mechanical Maintenance Operator

About the role

ABB is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Operator to join its Maintenance team. You will work on production machinery and mechanical equipment, applying established maintenance procedures to keep the plant running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, identify root causes and implement solutions.
• Repair, replace, and overhaul components such as bearings, gearboxes, belts, chains, pumps, valves, and pneumatic systems.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and pneumatic diagrams.
• Set up, align, calibrate and adjust machines according to production requirements.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and improve equipment performance.
• Report recurring issues and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• Technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of English.
• Ability to work night shifts, weekends and on a continuous shift schedule if required.
• Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is an advantage.

Required skills

• Preventive and corrective maintenance techniques.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and fault‑finding.
• Interpretation of mechanical drawings and pneumatic diagrams.
• Knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, belts, chains, pumps, valves and pneumatic systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.
