Medical Liaison Officer – Survivors of Torture Project

About the role

MSF is seeking a Medical Liaison Officer to support the Survivors of Torture (SoT) programme in Palermo. The role ensures high‑quality, trauma‑informed medical care across the full patient pathway, from initial assessment to discharge, within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor the multidisciplinary medical team during first‑need assessments, applying a trauma‑informed approach.
• Collect, validate, and analyse epidemiological data, reporting any complications or medical errors.
• Ensure compliance with MSF medical protocols, universal precautions, infection‑control standards and bio‑hazard risk reduction.
• Provide ongoing training for medical and paramedical staff to optimise care quality.
• Maintain professional confidentiality and secure communication with health facilities and external stakeholders.
• Facilitate safe referrals and follow‑up for patients, collaborating with national health system staff and other service providers.

Required profile

• Medical degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience working in humanitarian or multidisciplinary health projects.
• Knowledge of MSF medical guidelines and trauma‑informed care principles.
• Strong ability to work with diverse teams and maintain confidentiality.
