Principal Enterprise Architect

About the role

Celonis, the platform that industrializes Enterprise AI, is looking for a Principal Enterprise Architect in Milan. The role combines deep technical expertise with executive presence: you present to C-level executives and turn their strategic goals into technical plans, working with technical teams at prospects and customers to design architectures that drive enterprise modernization, using techniques such as capability mapping and Agentic AI. You support the sales team in reaching revenue goals by removing technical blockers and partnering with Sales, Value Engineering, Product Management, Data Ops and Information Security.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and define the architecture, data and cloud strategy for the largest client accounts, using enterprise modernization and capability mapping.
• Present to customer C-level executives and align their objectives with Celonis' technical strategy.
• Identify and architect solutions based on emerging technologies, including Agentic AI.
• Bridge Celonis product and engineering teams with client teams, and assess the IT landscape maturity of the customer installed base for the region.
• Take part in pre-sales and post-sales phases with customer architecture and security teams.
• Coach consulting teams and ecosystem partners on architecture, integration, performance and scalability, and develop reusable assets for them.
• Create customer-facing position papers, thought leadership presentations and technical designs for internal and client stakeholders.

Required profile

• 10 to 15 years of relevant experience (e.g. software vendor architect, CTO at a top consulting firm, or enterprise architect at a customer).
• MSc in Computer Science or an equivalent degree in an IT-related field.
• Ability to connect technical solutions to business value and to present complex technical concepts to C-level executives.
• Fluent English; Spanish, German, French or Italian is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Demonstrated experience in capability mapping, enterprise modernization and Agentic AI.
• Cloud-native architectures, SaaS, ERP (especially SAP S/4HANA or ECC), Salesforce, Dynamics CRM or ServiceNow, cybersecurity basics, API ecosystems and legacy on-premise architectures.
• Data architecture, integration patterns and a development background in SQL, Python or similar.
• Preferred: Celonis certifications, OCPM and Case Centric pipelines, AWS/Azure/GCP, ESB/ETL (Mulesoft, Oracle, SAP, Talend, Informatica), TOGAF/Zachmann, and experience in two domains (Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Customer/Consumer, HR, Procurement) and two industries (Consumer goods, Banking, Pharma, Aerospace, Telco, Transport).
