Production Engineering Manager

About the role

ABB is looking for a Production Engineering Manager to lead a strategic team within its Industrial Engineering function. The role combines technical expertise with people leadership, overseeing the development and optimization of production processes across two streams: Internal Process Management and Special Process Development. It is an onsite position reporting to the Industrial Engineering Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Production Engineering Specialists, providing coaching, development and performance management.
• Direct the Internal Processes stream: oversee technological improvement initiatives, prioritize investments, monitor OEE and efficiency KPIs, and track feasibility and implementation.
• Direct the Special Processes stream: develop advanced automated and semi-automated solutions for special production processes (Protection and Energy Management).
• Lead feasibility studies, develop technical specifications, implement cutting-edge equipment and advanced robotics solutions, and continuously improve production line capabilities.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Automation Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline; master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in process engineering, production management or manufacturing/quality optimization in industrial or electromechanical sectors.
• Proven leadership of technical teams and a track record of process improvements, innovation initiatives and project delivery within budget and schedule.
• Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage.

Required skills

• Process design tools, manufacturing simulation software and digital production optimization tools (PLM, ERP systems, IoT monitoring)
• Understanding of Industry 5.0 standards and Physical AI trends

What we offer

• Compensation under the Metalmeccanico collective agreement, with a minimum annual salary of EUR 53,000 and a variable pay component (AIP target 10% plus eligibility for a productivity bonus)
