Robotics Systems Engineer

About the role

This Robotics Systems Engineer position sits within ABB's Robotics business, which is preparing for its acquisition by SoftBank Group. The role contributes to the Robotics Division, Proposal & Engineering Department in Italy and reports to the Senior Engineering Manager. Main stakeholders include proposal engineers, mechanical and electrical & automation engineers, project managers, customers and system integrators. The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development of customized robotic and automation solutions for industrial customers.
• Evaluate software architectures, automation concepts and technical feasibility during quotation and project execution.
• Contribute to the software lifecycle, including requirements definition, design review, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated robotic, mechanical and software solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a similar technical field.
• Experience in industrial automation, robotics software, PLC programming, SCADA systems or manufacturing automation.
• Ability to evaluate technical solutions, software effort and project risks during proposal and engineering phases.
• Strong analytical skills, problem-solving attitude and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluent Italian and English.

Required skills

• Good understanding of software architectures, industrial communication protocols and system integration.
• Advantageous: robot programming, simulation tools, industrial networks and automation platforms.
