ERTMS Functional Design Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated ERTMS Functional Design Engineer who can handle a wide range of tasks, from administrative to strategic, in a fast-paced environment. The position is based in Genoa or Naples, Italy, and is full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee delivery of the signalling system and subsystem in line with requirements, quality, schedule and budget
• Define the validation test specification and carry out validation and verification (V&V) activities in line with RAMS governance and company processes
• Deliver V&V documents at signalling system and subsystem level with Engineering, Operations & Maintenance and external suppliers
• Support V&V activities through project, bidding and delivery phases: planning, design reviews with suppliers and field tests
• Ensure independent safety assessment in compliance with applicable standards and SILs, and support RAMS managers and external authorities
• Provide schedule and cost progress to RAMS managers and define the requirements for testing environments and tools

Required profile

• Up to 5 years of RAMS and/or V&V experience
• Desired past experience with testing and validation of ERTMS systems
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Availability for short travels
• Engineering degree in electrical, electronic or computer engineering, or information technology

Required skills

• Proficiency in applying testing and validation processes for complex systems, preferably railway systems under EN50128
• Compliance with project schedules, cost and quality of deliverables

What we offer

• Annual gross pay between 33,000 and 38,000 EUR
• Covered by the private metalworking industry collective agreement (CCNL), level B1
