Principal, Energy & Natural Resources – Milan

About the role

Oliver Wyman, a global management consulting firm, is looking for a Principal in its Energy & Natural Resources practice in Milan. You will lead transformational engagements with C-suite clients and help grow the practice in Italy, working closely with Partners. The role is permanent, under the CCNL Commercio collective agreement, at the Dirigenti level.

Key responsibilities

• Advise senior executives and boards on strategy, growth, transformation, performance improvement, energy transition, decarbonization and resilience.
• Lead complex, high-impact engagements with C-Suite clients from problem definition through recommendation and implementation.
• Build trusted client relationships and act as a go-to advisor in the Energy & Natural Resources sector.
• Identify, originate and expand commercial opportunities with Partners, lead client development, develop proposals and co-lead the growth of the Milan and European Energy practice.
• Create high-quality thought leadership and connect clients to Oliver Wyman's capabilities and specialists across geographies.
• Direct and develop project teams, set expectations, give coaching and feedback, and recruit and build talent.

Required profile

• At least 8-10 years of relevant professional experience, with significant experience in a top-tier strategy consulting firm or comparable advisory environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in Energy & Natural Resources sectors such as utilities, power & gas, energy infrastructure and private capital.
• A strong record of leading complex strategy and transformation projects.
• Proven commercial contribution, including identifying opportunities and supporting or leading business development.
• Ability to lead, coach and develop diverse teams.
• Master's degree or MBA with a strong academic record.
• Willingness to travel within Italy and internationally.

Required skills

• Fluency in Italian and English.
• Outstanding structured problem-solving, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

• Base salary of EUR 140,000 to 165,000 gross per year (full-time equivalent), plus an annual discretionary performance bonus.
